Welcome to the Village of Fishkill Fire Department web page. This site is dedicated to the residents of the Village of Fishkill and the devoted firefighters that provide protection to this community. Since 1829, Protection Engine Co. No. 1 (501(c)(3) organization under the Internal Revenue Code) and the Fishkill Fire Department have provided quality fire protection to the residents of the Fishkill area.
Fire and rescue service to the Village of Fishkill is provided by a staff of roughly 40 volunteer firefighters, operating out of one Central Station with 4 pieces of fire apparatus and 2 Command Vehicles.
In addition to traditional firefighting activities, the department has Emergency Medical Technicians, Certified First Responders and personnel trained and proficient in other specialized tasks including rescue, rapid intervention, hazardous material mitigation, collapse rescue, disaster management, and incident command. The Fire Department F.A.S.T. team is often special called by neighboring Fire Departments for coverage during working structure fires and other major incidents.
The Village of Fishkill is located just over 60 miles north of New York City and 90 miles south of Albany, New York, in the southern portion of picturesque Dutchess County. The Village has a population of over 2,000 people in a 2.6 square mile area. Both urban and suburban settings along with several commercial districts make this Village a fascinating place to live and work.
The Village of Fishkill is also rich in history dating back to the 1700’s with several existing structures being well over 150 years old. During the Revolutionary War, the Trinity Episcopal Church was used as a Hospital and the Dutch Reformed Church was used as a Prison. See the History Section of this site for Fire Department chronicles and pictures from the early days.
This site has information on the History, Apparatus, Personnel and Officers that make the Fishkill Fire Department what it is today. You will also find upcoming events, notices, news, and fire prevention information regularly posted, so please check back frequently to see what is new and upcoming.
A special “Thank You” to ALL that have supported the Fire Department over the years.
Let us “Never Forget” our fallen Brothers and Sisters.
