Fishkill, NY – June 12, 2006 At around 1345 hrs. the Rombout Fire Department called the Village of Fishkill Fire Department to assist with the control of leaking fluids as a result of an accident involving 2 cars and a tractor-trailer at the intersection of Route 9 & West Merritt Blvd. The southbound tractor-trailer which was carrying gravel, rolled over on its side after leaving the roadway. It’s cargo of gravel spilled onto the shoulder of Route 9 along with leaking diesel fuel, hydraulic oil and other fluids from the overturned tractor.
FD personnel used remote impounding, hydrophobic pads and booms and speedy dri to contain the leaking material.
Hyatt's Towing Service worked on up-righting the tractor and then the trailer after it had been off loaded.
A New York State Department of Environmental Conservation representative was at the scene to observe the conditions and guide the contractor clean-up.
