Mercedes Crashes on Merritt Boulevard

Fishkill, NY - Monday, June 26, 2006 at about 1820 hrs the Village of Fishkill Fire Department was dispatched by Dutchess 911 to a one car auto accident with fire on Merritt Boulevard in front of Acorn Self Storage. Upon arrival, Chief Scofield reported a Mercedes Benz into a light pole with a small fire. Engine 42-13 responded and extinguished the fire along with providing control and containment of engine oil that was on the ground from a ruptured oil pan.

Mobile Life Support Services provided medical attention to the driver while Engine 42-11 was special called to assist with traffic control on Merritt Boulevard near the Gap Distribution Center. The West bound lane of Merritt Blvd. was closed for about 30 minutes while the accident was cleaned up and the motor oil was contained.

The Village of Fishkill Police Department investigated the accident while the Town of Fishkill Police assisted with traffic control.
