Residential House Fire with Trapped Occupant

Incident

Village of Fishkill - August 5, 2006 Firefighters from the Village of Fishkill responded to a possible brush fire on Patricia Ave at about 2340 hours with a backup call reporting a working structure fire. The Rombout and Hughsonville fire departments were operating about 2 blocks away investigating an odor of gas and sent a crew to investigate. Rombout firefighters arrived and found a 2 story residential wood frame with heavy fire showing throughout most of the structure. Village of Fishkill Command called a 2nd alarm on arrival. Firefighters were advised of a possible trapped occupant. Fishkill Firefighters located the victim who was in serious condition. The victim was transported by Mobile Life to a local hospital and subsequently succumbed to the injuries. Firefighters had the fire knocked down in about 20 minutes and remained on the scene for several hours for overhaul and investigation. One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.

The Village of Fishkill FD was assisted on the scene by Rombout, Hughsonville, East Fishkill's FAST Team, Mobile Life Support (4 units), and the Dutchess County Fire Investigation unit while Glenham stood-by at Fishkill’s Headquarters. The Village of Fishkill PD, Town of Fishkill PD and the NY State Police were also on the scene.
