One of the items of business during the monthly meeting held in February of 1906 was to send a note of sympathy to Dr. Howell Whit for the "loss and annoyance" he had experienced through the destruction of his barns by fire. Dr. White was a medical doctor whose home and farm was on Main Street about across from Luyster Place is today.

Village of Fishkill - August 5, 2006 Firefighters from the Village of Fishkill responded to a possible brush fire on Patricia Ave at about 2340 hours with a backup call reporting a working structure fire. The Rombout and Hughsonville fire departments were operating about 2 blocks away investigating an odor of gas and sent a crew to investigate. Rombout firefighters arrived and found a 2 story residential wood frame with heavy fire showing throughout most of the structure. Village of Fishkill Command called a 2nd alarm on arrival. Firefighters were advised of a possible trapped occupant. Fishkill Firefighters located the victim who was in serious condition. The victim was transported by Mobile Life to a local hospital and subsequently succumbed to the injuries. Firefighters had the fire knocked down in about 20 minutes and remained on the scene for several hours for overhaul and investigation. One firefighter was treated for minor injuries.

September 14th, 1909 was the date of one of Fishkill's most tragic fires. At least the adults thought so. The kids were happy, because this is the day that the school burned down. Herman Dean, who ran a local newspaper, wrote a history of Protection Engine on the occasion of its 100th anniversary in 1929. Fishkill, NY - Monday, June 26, 2006 at about 1820 hrs the Village of Fishkill Fire Department was dispatched by Dutchess 911 to a one car auto accident with fire on Merritt Boulevard in front of Acorn Self Storage. Upon arrival, Chief Scofield reported a Mercedes Benz into a light pole with a small fire. Engine 42-13 responded and extinguished the fire along with providing control and containment of engine oil that was on the ground from a ruptured oil pan.
